Guinevere was walking along the wall as she usually did when she was thinking.

The dinner had not gone as she had planned. She had hoped it would bring the three of them together, but instead it seemed to have caused an even deeper wedge between the three of them. That wasn't what she wanted.

She wanted things to be calm again, to be relaxed for them.

She lay her head against the stone.

What was going to happen to them?

Tristan had been keeping a vigil across the land as he always did. He had noted Lancelot's departure and had judged it better that he stay where he was as Lancelot's expression spoke volumes for his mood.

He also sensed Guinevere's presence before he had even seen her. "Something on your mind?" He asked, voice low and seeming to come from the darkest shadow.

Guinevere smiled faintly. Tristan was one of the few inside these walls that she never had any trouble talking to or just listening to the night with him. He was like a brother to her.

"I have a lot on my mind, my friend," she said softly. "I think I just watched the severing of Lancelot, Arthur and I...and it feels like I've been shot full of arrows."

Tristan tipped his head to glance across at Guinevere. "What makes you say that?" He had noticed the unrest between the three lately but figured like all the other times, they would mend and be stronger.

Guinevere sighed, looking out over the land.

"Things feel wrong between us, Tristan. It worries me and it makes me feel guilty because I don't know how to fix it. All I know is how I feel."

Tristan dropped his arms to his side and stepped further forward out of shadow and leaned down to rest his arms atop of the stone wall.

"I have a feeling that both Lancelot and Arthur are in the same boat." He paushed to look over at Guinevere. "What do you feel?"

Guinevere smiled, but there was sadness and not humour there.

"I'm in love with them," she said simply. "I want them happy and comfortable again."

He nodded his head as he listened and took in her expression.

"And what do you think would make them happy and comfortable again? It would seem that you all want that for one another and none of you have any idea of how to achieve it without being self sacrificing."

It was the truth or the truth as Tristan had observed it.

Guinevere was silent for a very long moment, and then she looked at Tristan.

"Honestly? I have no idea. Give me an enemy to fight, and I can do it. Tell me to fix what is wrong with those I love...I am at a loss."

She sighed and looked down at the ground below.

"I asked Merlin for advice and he told me to communicate with them...or to court them."

"There is such a thing as talking a subject to death." Tristan mused with a thoughtful expression. "Sometimes words are simply not enough and people need to see our true thoughts through our actions."

He watched the land around him. "Did you not fight for this country of yours, Guinevere?" He curled his hands around the stones. "What drove you to do that? Was it simply out of a sense of loyalty or was there a stronger force driving you?"

Guinevere lifted her chin, pride flashing in her eyes.

"I fight for this country because it is mine. It is my blood and it is a part of me. It is the land of my people and the home of those I love." She tilted her head at Tristan. "Would that I knew how to use that tactic to my advantage in this situation. I do not want to lose them, Tristan. However, I think my bright idea of knocking them over the head and keeping them locked up in my chamber with me until we find our way back to each other through our actions would probably not go over that well."

Tristan tipped his head to glance over at Guinevere. "You fight for this country because it is yours and is a part of you. Are Lancelot and Arthur not yours? And are they not a part of you?"

He crossed his arms over one another. "The only way you would lose them would be to give in and accept that the fates have conspired to cause you all sorrow and misery."

"You and Arthur spend too much time dealing with matters of state." He said with a shrug. "The people are able to look after themselves, they managed when they had no ruling body and they can still manage. Lancelot spends too much time worrying about his place in the ..unique relationship." Tristan tipped his head back.

"They are more a part of me than the very air I breathe," Guinevere said, listening to the things he was saying. "I do not plan to give in, not at all. I just do not want my not giving in to cause problems. I have never been one to let fate have its way with me without a by your leave. My problem is right now...I am no longer sure where I fit into all of this. I will not give up, but is it wise to think of matters of the heart in terms of battle tactics?"

"If it works for you, it might be wise." Tristan glanced over at Guinevere. "You have been absent but it is true what they say, absence does indeed make the heart grow fonder."

His eyes looked up as his hawk glided across the air above them. "I do not think the three of you can function without all of you being present and willing to make time for one another."

Whilst talking with Guinevere, Tristan was so glad for his relationship with Galahad.

Guinevere thought about what he was saying as she looked out into the night.

"I do not think I can function without them, to be honest, Tristan. I wish to make this work, but there are things that you should not threaten with a sword...unless..."

"I've often threatened Lancelot with swords, I got a few amusing reactions." Tristan remarked with a slight smirk.

Tristan clucked his tongue and his hawk settled an inch or so away from him. His hand smoothed over her coat and his expression turned thoughtful. "You say you want to make it work but in recent days, it would seem that all of you have been too busy to even communicate with one another."

"You cannot spend time apart and expect everything to be the same. I suppose it's about finding the right way to reconnect you all together again."

If Tristan could read minds, he might have been horrified at the ideas that his wise words were giving Guinevere.

She offered Tristan a very bright smile and looked up at the sky.

"I think I am getting a few ideas, Tristan. I do not want either of them to think that I am too busy for them. However, I also have now learned that you cannot simply put on a dress, make a nice dinner and expect for things to at least appear that they will work." She turned her head to him and now the smile was also very bright in her eyes. "You have to grab the warrior by the...arm and show him what he means to you."

Tristan turned his head and cocked an eyebrow at the look in Guinevere's eyes. He had an inkling of what that look could possibly mean and he wondered if it would be wise for him to avoid Lancelot and Arthur for a while.

"Sometimes the easiest solution." Though he was wary of saying that.

The light of planning and satisfaction at her planning is getting brighter in Guinevere's eyes.

"Tristan...I thank you for reminding me who I was and how I do things." She stepped up and kissed his cheek before going to the stairs. She stopped and looked back at him. "Chains or leather, do you think?"

Tristan lifted an eyebrow at the question and decided he really didn't want to know. "Leather." He replied simply.
