Friends and Enemies
Aug. 12th, 2004 12:27 pmIs There Any Truth To The Old Saying "Keep Your Friends Close and Your Enemies Closer?" Do You Have Enemies? Do You Have More Friends Than Enemies?
I guess that would depend on how you define "enemy" and how you define "friend"?
Ifight fought against the Roman occupiers of our land, but that does not make all people of Rome my enemy. Marcus...now he was definitely my enemy. However, his wife tried to protect me and brought Lucan and I food when we were in that hellhole. She risked a great deal to keep us alive, so I call her friend.
On the other hand, Morgaine...now her I consider an enemy. She would use her magics to bewitchand seduce Arthur if she could. She is a very dangerous snake and she is a very large threat to Arthur and Lancelot. She threatens all we hold dear. She is someone who wishes to destroy everything Arthur loves and if we allow her to get too close, she will attempt to.
I do not wish to keep my enemies too close to me. If I have my choice, I would see them far away...like underground, perhaps? I would only want to keep them close enough for my arrows to pierce their flesh. I do not desire them to be any closer to me than that.
I do have more friends than enemies. I have Arthur, Lancelot, Merlin and Gawain. I have the Knights, the Celts, Isolde and a few others. I am blessed to have such good friends.
